Breakfast reading from the Village Voice Empire: Actor and mixed-martial arts fighter Joseph Hyungmin Son, who played Dr. Evil's henchman in Austin Powers, has been sentenced to life in prison for torturing a woman. OC Weekly has the story.

I agree with Paul. When you take away a man's freedom and livelihood, he is bound to act out by killing his cellmate. Joseph Son is the victim of a kangaroo court, simple as that.

I don't get how he got life in prison. He deserves a fair shake. It's not like he killed the girl, and even released her as a Christmas present. Besides it happened over 20 years ago and I believe in second chances.

With a conviction for felony vandalism, and the parole violation in '08 that led to his DNA being collected, not to mention the indication that he's kidnapped and raped other women, he hasn't exactly been a model citizen in that last 20 years. He's blown whatever chances he had.

I can still remember renting "UFC 4" in high school and watching this asshole get his balls smashed. His opponent, Keith Hackney, punched in him repeatedly in the groin. It wasn't illegal to do that back than and in restrospect he certainly deserved to get his nut sack pummeled.

Huh. So i guess he was better even suited for the role of bad guy than you could have imagined. That statement about how they let her go as a Christmas present bothers me. Makes it sound like they did this kind of thing habitually, but in this rare instance they let the victim go. How many other victims are there?
