Kerra Wilson's Body Found: Stepdad Salvador Lopez Charged With Murder

The last time anyone saw Kerra Wilson alive was Tuesday night, when she was hanging out with her grandparents in Mitchell, Nebraska. The next day, administrators at Mitchell Elementary called home to say she hadn't shown up for school that day...

Kerra's stepdad claims he dropped her off at school Wednesday morning, but school security cameras said otherwise

Her stepfather, 32-year-old Salvador Carlos Lopez, claims he dropped the 8-year-old off at school that morning. So detectives naturally went to surveillance tape to see when the girl might have left.

The problem is they found no sign of leaving -- and no sign that Lopez had ever dropped her off that morning.

Police launched an all-out hunt for the little girl, but that ended sadly last night. A rancher called the cops, asking them to check on something suspicious in a remote, rugged area. Police ended up finding Kerra's body.

Detectives aren't saying how she died, pending an autopsy. But they seem to believe they have enough evidence to charge Lopez for murder. (Special thanks to reader Daisy for the tip.)

News here says that stepdad is waiving his right to arraignment and so it went to district ct. right away, and that he has a wife in Mexico!! He probably committed some other heinous crime in Mexico and is on the run, and now here he is! Get prison, and then he will get some bleeding heart tree-hugger who will pity him, "he wasn't aware of his rights"...blah blah!!! If he gets off on some bs technicality I will be seriously pissed off!!

what i like about that is that if he was already legally married, the marriage to the mother of the deceased girl is invalid. consequently, there's no marital privilege, so that if the mother knows anything and wants to talk / testify, the perp can't claim that privilege as a way of stopping her! sweeeeeet! hope she knows stuff and hope she sings like a bird.

Too often there are stories of stuff like this involving step parents.. I thank my lucky stars everyday for having a terrific step father, that I am still close with to this day. My mom and step dad have been divorced for many years, he is married to someone else and she is a wonderful lady. I consider her to be a 2nd mom to me, my son calls her grandma..

I was married for 13 yrs. Divorced and met a great man (so I thought) who while we were dating spent time with the kids and was so kind to me. We married and I thought things were going great. However shortly after we were married the kids had a concert and he stated he wasn't going because they weren't his. Two days after the concert my daughter called me in tears. He had locked her out of the bathroom and she couldn't get ready for school. I left work, packed my bags and kids and left that very day. I did love him but I loved my kids more and no one will make them cry like my little girl cried that morning. It was very minor compared to what some step parents do to kids, but it was unforgivable in my eyes. I had no excuse for the crying my little girl did other than the fact that he was a dick. Was it hard to get back on my feet? It was horribly hard we left with nothing. It was completely worth it though. My kid only had to cry once for me to catch the clue.

you're a brilliant woman. thank god your self esteem wasn't in the toilet like so many women's, so that you were able to do the appropriate thing to love and protect your kids. you daughter will grow up to be a strong, independent person b/c of that support. excellent job.

What's really sick is, in the similar case I saw portrayed on Forensic Files the stepdad lost his temper with the girl over cleaning her room or something and he hit her. His excuse for killing her was that he didn't want to lose his job if he got an assault conviction. Hello? I guess the assmunch didn't think about a murder conviction.

I don't think even castration would work in the case here, or in any case actually. Sick fuckers will find other ways to molest, rape, penetrate their victims. People like him aren't normal. They're broken. And nothing will fix him except immediate death!!!

Why not Death to this man? Oh I want it, but he gets to Live for years while his lawyers work on Appeals. I say just put him out in the General Population of his Peers, he will become everyones Bitch. Ole Bubba will do more Justice than the Courts. I want him to feel what Kerra was feeling,and worse. Like I always say............Just put a bullet in their heads...Child molesters,Animal abusers,Child rapist and child murders. They are all very innocent in every way and should have to never endure such sick and disgusting things that they have done to them.They were just easy pray to these cowards and the whole world in every shape and way would be much better off if they were just gone from the face of this planet! I think your on to something here. Why not just keep the Space Program going and use the money for their Housing in Prison, to Fund it. Does it matter where they wait for those Appeals? You summed it up pretty good...I heard some rumors that the mother may have been involved with this in some way, not in the murder itself but being with him when he got rid of the Kerras little body. I also hear that the mother never told Kerras Bio dad that he had a daughter, and that's why the detectives never interviewed him...these are all rumors of course, but I think there's gonna be some details that will make good people cringe when they get released...even the lead Dt couldn't hold back her emotions at the press conference, she couldn't stop herself and had to stop and breathe at one point. :(

It seems I have met one,Who is GOOD person themselves. I understand that People have different views. Most have shown the Heart that goes out to this Child that had so much to discover. Some BAD things in her Life she could have not fully understood, and now ? I think it will all be discoverd and its the hearing of it. I am wondering if mom is going to be named at all in the investigation as accomplice? We don't know her story, and theres way too much static with the comments here. Point is, a little girl is dead because stepdad is a douche! Doesn't matter if he's legal or not. I bet mom had an inkling, but unless charges are brought on her, we will never really know. I really hoped she would be found. The system needs to be completely retooled and just forget about prison sentences. Just off 'em!! These perps didn't give their victims a chance, why should society??? I am sick and tired of paying for them to sit in a cell, getting meals, medical, an education, and access to the computer..all on my hard-earned dime!!!!!

This happened less than 20 minutes away from me (I live on the other side of Scottsbluff) it absolutely sickens me :( There were flyers up everywhere where I work last night and people left and right today asked if they had found the little girl yet, I had to break the sad news to many that she was found dead. It's so simple and quiet out here, you never expect something like this to happen :( RIP Kerra :(

Personally i think that the death penalty is just giving this sick bastard a nice way out. I believe that this piece of shit should rot in prison calling some other sick fucker big daddy. If he went to prison he would probably not last very long anyways because even prisoners have a heart somewhere and don't appreciate sick fucks like him but at least he would have to feel getting raped and beaten and tortured to death just like he did to that poor little baby (R.I.P Kerra). That is what that fuckstick deserves not a fast painless first class flight to hell!
