41-year-old Amy Patterson was supposed to show up for her job as a science teacher at Mariner Middle School on July 25. But when she was a no-show, the school called her Pine Island, Florida home, only to find out she'd died in a tragic car accident...

Amy divorced Daniel Proctor in 1994, but despite a history of domestic violence, they'd gotten back together in recent months
At least that's what Daniel Proctor told them. He'd divorced Amy in 1994, but they'd gotten back together in recent months. There was a history of domestic violence between the pair, but friends and family say Amy was happy about her reconciliation.

When she turned up missing, however, Proctor proved too dimwitted to be married to a teacher.

While the school was mourning Amy's death, Proctor was offering different stories for her disappearance to others. It finally came to a head when he showed up at Amy's mother's home in her car -- without Amy.

He told her mom she'd moved to Texas. But mom wasn't buying, so she reported Amy missing. That's when Proctor decided to flee.

Amy's car was reported abandoned in Alabama. It seems Proctor had gone to visit a friend, only to steal the friend's car and a gun from his home before taking off again.

Yet his flight came to an end yesterday when he was arrested by U.S. marshals. They found him sleeping in the stolen car in the parking lot of a Best Western in Okeechobee, Florida.

So far, Proctor's only been charged with stealing his friend's gun and car in Alabama. Police have yet to find any sign of Amy.
