• So because you failed to teach your dog a proper recall and let him run around near traffic, you feel justified in using pain to stop the dog?  I guess I find that a little off.  I trained my dog to have a solid recall (no shock collar necessary!) and don't let her out off leash near busy roads.  She gets plenty of off leash time in the woods and on trails in the park where the road is a good distance away. I mean, I wouldn't let a child play near traffic, so why do you let your dog?  Why punish the dog for what is, ultimately, the human's failure to educate?

• I was totally believing him at first, and even for the first couple of minutes of the video, then to me, it seems like he took it too far after you hear him say, 'Ow' It was like he totally lost it then and was beating the dog out of anger not for training purposes.

• sorry to have offended you... and I've had many adopted animals and never once felt a need to beat them, however I have used a shock collar to keep my dog from running out onto a busy road and getting killed

• Seriously?  You call shocking the dog at the same time as jerking it around by its leash at the same time beating it with a stick "training"?  I wouldn't want any of the dogs I rescue to fall into YOUR lap if that's justifiable training. This guy was in no way training that dog.  He was angry and frustrated and took it out on the dog.  The idea that we have to inflict pain in the name of training really needs to end.  Unfortunately, people seem to still be brainwashed into thinking that.  Sad. And before you think I'm a PETA nutjob, think again.  I can't stand PETA either.  They're generally over the top, crazy, and completely wrong.  But this was not something they did themselves.  This was something someone sent to them and so outside of posting it publicly they were not involved.

• I know one point the guy made was that you don't want the dog to miss their command and accidently jump out and get shot by the hunter... I can definitely see that. And granted I absolutely do not believe in abusing animals, but I do understand training issues with some animals.  I really believe the neighbor was just trying to find a reason to get him in trouble.  I saw the video, although for me personally it is a little intense training, I can certainly understand what he was doing and trying to accomplish.... not his finest moment I'm sure. ...can I sit next to you on the PETA hate bench...lol BTW thanks for your service Chix, definitely appreciate your hard work, especially with our canine friends.

• As a former K-9 trainer for the military, I know that in order to get your 9 to attack you have to train it. That involves pinching it's nose very hard. Domesticated animals do not just attack for no apparent reason. Ugly...yes. Necessary...yes. Dogs have been an important  part of warfare for hundreds if not thousands of years. The Spaniards would n0t have conquered south and north America with out them. (and disease) It sometimes is required to put the animal in check. I know the fine folks of P.E.T.A. hate me. Yet WE all sleep fine at night. In part because my babies are watching your backs !!!
