Rock Star v. Playboy Model: Who Won?
Matt Townshend Goes to Jail For Not Buying a Dog License
Breakfast reading from the Village Voice Empire: Wolfie, a service animal for Townshend's autistic daughter, got loose, and his owner got fined. Townshend didn't pay, and when deputies showed up to repossess some furniture, they also repossessed him. Westword has the story.

there also trained Autistc ones to actully detected and prevent an on set of a meltdown

Quota is everywhere if they want it happen. That is why there is a piece of news like this.
-
They like to pick on "out of towners" too because that is easy money and the judges, sheriff and mayor don't have to worry about losing any votes at election.
-
Ticket quotas exist in most states they just use creative verbage to describe the activity such as a station average. If each state made it where the manual of uniform traffic control devices is state law you would beat the majority of tickets.
-
A ticket quota is an illegal order. I do agree that there are some shithole, usually small towns with no other means of revenue, that go through some devious means to get their officers to write more tickets. But in general a "ticket quota" is against most state laws.
-
Service animals are also spayed and neutered. I wonder if this dog was as well. The article didn't say but that is one reason any dog might get out, even if trained properly.
-
I had to google it because, of all the many places I have lived and had pets, I've never heard of a dog license. I thought maybe it was something I was getting along with their vaccines each year. But, it seems you are right about just being able to place dog with owner should they ever become separated. Now they a using microchips for that. Its actually are very good idea. The only thing I don't like about it is if someone steals your dog then they know the dogs name and all your info too. That is a little creepy. Thanks for the info.
-
There's a ticket quota. I won't snip at you about this, because it's not absolute common knowledge, I will admit. But LOL at the thought of there being such a dog licence quota
-
ok, I'll take your word for it
-
I was actually referring to this particular situation when I commented they didn't have an issue it was a service animal, only that it did not have a license. Our town doesn't require a license either.
-
Aren't some trained to detect the onset of certain things, like seizures, are they trained the same way?
-
This animal shelter is quasi governmental, with a "ARM" that is non profit. It pays the county $1.00 a year for the lease of this $10 million dollar building. I do not know what the CEO and other executives are being paid yet, they haven't replied back too my inquiry yet. I will find out. The dog license fee is yearly and is for paying off the building which I'm sure will continue even once the building is paid off. I pay taxes already for these services. This is a tax on top of a tax. For over paid government flunkys and non profits are very profitable for the people at the top. Ill bet the CEO for this shelter makes $200 - $300 k. And the volunteers don't even have a clue who the CEO is. I think I'll open a non-profit business, have the county build me a building with a $1.00 a year lease. And pay myself a big fat salary. RIP OFF, MAN!

I doubt that it's even a real therapy dog due to the lack of training and discipline it showed when the father was walking him. The dog was literally straining at his harness pulling the guy along on the ice.
-
There's a quota for busting people for not having a dog license?
-
No in our town an actual service dog does not have to have its city license, only current Rabies. So they would have to provide service proof and we would call to confirm it was real.
-
I agree with you. That is most definitely not a trained service animal. Did you watch the video where the father is walking the dog but the dog was actually walking the father? That dog hasn't even been trained to walk on a leash.
-
Service animals are trained NOT to do that - it is NOT a service animal.
-
You have to have a dog license in our town, however, people only used get called on it when the dog gets picked up by Animal Control, or when the neighbors file a complaint.
-
It probably isn't a service dog. More likely he is getting two terms mixed up. It is probably a "therapy dog" used to give the child comfort and a therapeutic companion, not a trained "service dog" like for instance the ones trained to help the blind and deaf.
-
These cops need to get a fucking life and get their quota somewhere else
-
if its a service dog i dont see how they could even legally take the dog unless it attacked some one i would defiantly sue them most service dogs cost anywhere from 12,000 to 25,000 to train i know this because molly is waiting for an Autistic service dog her self but thats only if its realy a service dog I do feel sorry for the Autistic girl in the story the dad defiantly should have eather payed the fine or took it to court to fight it not ignore it
-
Can't disagree with you about it sticking close to their master, it is kind of a strange story, but also could have been a young dog, who knows. Licensing I don't believe is really that uncommon, but not really something you hear about a lot.
-
If I understood the story correctly, the dog was at home with her, however, the dog got out, which we know happens on occasion with animals.
-
It would be interesting if they confiscated a service dog for a fee because I can see the ACLU and all the other human rights orgs getting involved. For one, it is terribly expensive and takes a lot of time to properly train these dogs specifically for one person and a particular handicap.
-
This is true about asking about the service dog. All you can ask for is proof that it is a service dog. However, you can get fake service dog certs over the net. I never knew of anyplace that made you license a dog though, service or not. And, what properly trained service dog gets out and roams around? They usually stay pretty close to their master. I have had two friends in the past who had one. One was for a legally blind condition and the other was for a serious seizure disorder. These were the most obedient, disciplined and well mannered dogs I have ever been exposed to.
-
This is really stupid. All states should mandate that service animals are 100% free of charge. Most families dealing with a person with a disability are in financial hardship in the first place. The additional cost of such" bullshit revenue generation" is all that it is about.
-
Ya know, I'd think that if his daughter truely needed that type service animal, that it should have been home with her? And perhaps since she repo'd the dog, shouldn't it be her that was fined? I ain't know!!! Somedays I'm just to slow with this stuff.
-
Regurgitated, why? Need some Tums?

Bored of waiting for new stories so here.. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2101409/Casey-Kearney-Hannah-Bonser-26-charged-murder-Doncaster-stabbing.html
-
Seeing as it was his daughter's service animal...probably not.
-
It is not proof of being a service animal that is needed, it was proof of a license for the dog period. In some of my past dealings with service animals, you are not allowed to ask what the service animals is facilitating, you are only allowed to ask for proof of shot records, such as rabies, etc., at least this was what I dealt with a few years ago in Mississippi.
-
Whether a service dog or not, he should not be excused from paying his dues. Now, if this is a service animal, will it be in the joint with him???lololol
-
The question is does he have proof it truly is a service dog? If it is then no problem but his actions tell me he's talking out his ass. There is no reason to cause a stir when proof is all that is needed to clear charges.
-
Well ya...That's a given. :)
-
Harsh id agree but he should have just paid the fine
-
That's a bit harsh.Don't ya think?
