Paul Mira Had Sex With His 12-Year-Old Student But Avoids Jail Time

• I can agree about the 17 yo but in the case of the 12 yo, that is BS. Nobody wants to testify, including adults. I think they did the 12 yo a severe injustice and society as well, by letting this sick SOB loose on probation. Sadly, other little girls are going to be raped by this pig before he gets his 40 year sentence invoked. It doesn't make any sense. Besides, I believe the article says he admitted it so, they shouldn't have had to testify.

• How many men have gotten probation in the U.S. after committing sex abuse on little girls as Paul Mira & Otis Magee have.  We read about women getting probation after conviction of statutory rape on teen boys, but far fewer women get convicted of sex abuse.  Since Paul Mira who is probably Mestizo & Otis Magee who is a Black man got probation after pleading guilty to sex abuse on girls, how many other men are there who get the same punishment in the U.S.?  If there are many to more cases where men have gotten probation after being found guilty of sex with teen girls, then it further debunks the idea that mostly women get probation for sex abuse.

• The prosecutor and judge collaborated on this to determine the combined age of the victims was 29. They then concluded that at 29, there was no real crime committed and said plea deal was approved. I love math!

• Again, as with Otis Magee, the prosecutor is the 1 who gave the pleabargain offer to Paul Mira which had probation option.  Yes, Paul Mira must spend the rest of his life in prison assuming he did rape underage girls, but the prosecutor after reviewing the proof, talking with the victims & the defense lawyer decided to plead the case.  Maybe the prosecutor was inept or the prosecutor may have believed that if the case was tried, Paul Mira maybe acquitted.  It's also possible that Paul Mira may have been innocent but plead guilty to lesser charge because he figured if it went to trial, he would be convicted-sometimes innocents will pleabargain.  But assuming Paul Mira is guilty of raping 2 little girls, then focus on the prosecutor who gave this pleadeal because it's the prosecutor who decides whether to offer a pleabargain  & it's the judge who decides whether to accept.
