OMFG Lets call the Nat Assoc for the protection of Latino's (NAPL) And grt omammabomma on the phone. That kid also could be what his son would look like. What the hell, Call Geraldo and Nancy on twitter. I am jus so shocked, shocked I tell you (wait, did the latino guy have on a hoodie) That prob explains it.
I do understand the reasoning behind the "Stand Your Ground" issues, but for the life of me, I just don't see how it is standing your ground when you chase someone down and stab them. Same with the Martin case...
I believe this Zimmerman is guilty of manslaughter, to me murder is intentional, I don't believe it was his intention to kill this kid... NOW, before anyone loses it on me.... I do think he is in the wrong and should be charged... first, he was armed and too trigger quick, neighborhood watch programs are specific about no weapons... second...the minute the 911 operator told him to stay put, he should have done so, no ifs ands or buts, if he had let LE do their job, that kid would be alive today. Was this kid up to no good, walking back from the store, I wasn't there don't know, I don't believe he was though. I also don't believe that LE investigated this incident like they should have, obviously or they wouldn't be so in the shit with it now.
But it also needs to be taken into account that this neighborhood had been being burglarized the last few months and anxiety levels are high... someone that is not normally walking around the neighborhood at that time of evening is yes, going to be suspicious, I don't care if you are white, black, hispanic or pink with purple polkie dots. I haven't heard all the tapes as yet so I still am undecided as to whether this was a racial thing, there was profiling I believe, when he automatically assumed the guy was on drugs or casing the neighborhood, he states that on one tape ....and of course the news is going to have their take on it.... and you are only going to hear blurbs from it... There are still an awful lot of unanswered questions
My whole beef with this situation is that Garcia is the one who instigated the violence first. That should null and void any stand your ground stature. I mean, hey, I can understand you fearing for your life and taking care of buisness but it was Garcia that scared the shit out of the radionapper forcing him to defend himself with a bag of his nightly take. Bottom line, this is a poorly written and enforced law. LE, with all the issues it has these days need laws written by legislators that leave "no" gray areas so that it can be manipulated by lawyers. The laws need to protect the innocent and punish the guilty. Plain and simple.
I agree with you on both this and the Travon issues. Frankly I don't give a s*it how many times places are burglarized. You can hold a person at gun point and call 911. Blow a couple of knee caps off if you have to get all drama queen about it but, you don't have to effin kill a person!! I know I am making assumptions here but when people grow up callous to crime, they don't hesitate to commit it. So, why are we making it so much f*cking easier for them?
I would do anything not to have to kill someone, I really would. But to some folks, its nothing. If someone broke into my house and I could help it.....they would remember the experience for the rest of their lives. But I wouldn't kill them unless I had to. These MFers wanted to kill, IMHO.
Now, you know what this site will be filled with. Stories from FLA and all the sick bastards who are gonna try and get away with "stand your ground". I am so pissed about this. And happier than hell that I don't reside in FLA. I can promise you that if they adopt this ridiculous mentality in central AZ, my a$$ will be outta here.
Well, yes we do and I suppose I am immune to those flaws. But, we do have some good things like the tent prison. So, we at least got our hearts in the right place.
Also you can get a driver's license here and it last for like 100 years before you have to renew it.
lol believe me, right now I live way to close to FL for my own liking....dammit why does it have to have such good diving down there....
oh yeah I've dove in the Bahamas... but there is so much to see down in the gulf and the keyes, all less than 4hrs away..... some cool wrecks...we did a 4 day sailing/diving in Bimini and that area...it was an awesome dive cruise. Thinking the next big trip is going down to St. Croix. My ex-BIL lives down that and teaches and invited my current husband and I to come stay so we could dive...he also has a sailboat, we could dive off of...glad I still get along with the ex-BIL
You need to venture out a little but its expensive. The Bahamas use to be awesome and reasonable. You could a really cheap room on a cruiser, like $100 round trip. Have you tried that?
This law seems ill interpreted, and the more public policy becomes a factor in the legislation of this satute, the more likely it is to be repealed. When a law continues to be enforced in a manner such as this, it breeds resent and hatred within the community itself, and now that the internet has become a nearly instantanious medium for communicating the preposterous behaviour that is so pervasive in American culture, the quicker we can collectively resolve these issues in a reasonable manner. That being said, people who have committed manslaughter in states that uphold these ridiculous standards have gone free. It's disgusting.
The guy that's set free sold 2 of the car radios after he stabbed the guy. My, did you even read the article?
You guys don't play when it comes to your toys, do you?
Bought my son a car stereo when he first started driving. Paid a fortune [IMHO too damn much] for it and it had the removable face. I kept telling him it would get stolen if he didn't remove the face and hide it. DUH!! That is the effin purpose of having the removable face. So, WTF do I know, right. Then it finally happened. I was so pissed because it was totally avoidable and so was the smashed window. LOL, Then, son says [while we wait for the police to arrive] "wow, I thought I heard something out here last night. Guess I should come and checked."
I could have choked him but I managed to hide my rage and fork over $$$$$$$ with a smile.
That is why I always drive shitty cars I don't care about with the radios they came with. The only thing that was ever stolen from my car was some change I had in the ashtray. I never bother locking the doors so there was really no big loss (no broken windows). I do have a GPS now, because I have zero sense of direction, but that fits neatly in my purse.
His was a 5 yo old Honda Accord 2 door stick. I can't think of anything exceptional about the car. Not sure if it was maybe people from school who saw it in the school parking lot or maybe from a couple of neighborhoods away who were roaming the area looking for things to steal that night.
He has a satalite radio now that I am sure he hides.
When I lived in CA, I worked for a huge corp that had a huge parking lot for employees equipped with monitors. So, my colleague goes out to go to lunch but immediately comes back to report his car radio was stolen. Does all that, comes back. Day ends and he leaves to go home and comes back again cause whoever stole the radio came back for the amp, speakers and the rest of it. Of course cameras are all b&w and gritty looking and you can't identify who is out there. He drove a souped up Trans AM so I'm sure he was a target.
