Fugitive on Video Shooting Deputy
Justin O'Donnell's Body Left in View of Family For Three Hours
Breakfast reading from the Village Voice Empire: O'Donnell, whose loved ones say he wasn't involved in gangs, was shot during a daylight shooting in a busy neighborhood. Why do the cops say they left his body out as a hundred locals, including his mom, stood nearby? Westword has the story.

If I thought for even a second that I could educate you as to the need for gathering evidence, crime victims need for support or just about ANYTHING else in the world I might take the time to try but obviously you're too stupid..could you read all those big words?
What the fu'k are people thinking?! These are victims of a horrendous crime. They should be treated with the utmost of respect.
Yes, the departed are beloved by their families. But as the victim of a crime there are evidentuary processes that have to happen. Those sadly take time.
That is very sad to be made to wait. Even through the process, I believe care should be taken to maintain a level of respect for the victim(s).May you stand strong and gather support from wherever it is offered.
You know not to be disrespectful but did this guys family maybe take his mother into the house so she wouldn't see her son lying there? It just seems the more appropriate thing to do. In the political correct environment of today, let's just say...don't let moms have to see such things for several hours...Agreed?
To be fair- my elderly neighbor died in his front yard overnight last winter, and after the local cops arrived it was 5 hours before the body was picked up by the coroner. Until then, it laid, uncovered in the man's front yard. They also cited the fact that a sheet can screw up evidence gathering.
Most LE investigators follow the Locard Theory of forensics. Locard stated when 2 objects that come in contact will leave evidence of the connection. When LE covers a victim with a sheet, the sheet leaves fiber evidence on the body and can take valuable evidence from the body. Many criminal defense attorney's have successfully argued evidence was compromised by placing a sheet on the body. Sad, but true.
I agree with child advocate.does it seem more likely that of all of the people present at the crime scene from police to crime scene workers, all of them were mean, heartless bastards who wanted the family of this poor kid to suffer? Even the smallest fibers/trace evidence can assist in finding the bastards who killed this boy! Doesn't his family want that?
Something tells me this guy wouldn't have abstained if the doctor had told him to do so. He had a threesome with a friend AND another woman who wasn't his wife. And the wife gets to collect on this. I love it!
How stupid... Common sense would tell a person that if you're having chest pains, sex isn't the best idea. It's ridiculous, IMO....
Now that's an award....3mil for not tell'n a guy that sex was a nono for awhile...lmao...I feel sorry bout the death but holy crap, 3 mil...lol...
Could they have handled this better, probably, I can understand wanting to get all the evidence they can obtain from the scene before it is disturbed, but like you said Sam, I think they could have at least covered him once they searched the immediate vicinity of his body. I couldn't imagine having to see my child like that. It appears he was a young man that tried to help keep other kids out of gangs, such a sad waste. At least they were in fact able to make arrests, here's hoping the evidence they gathered with put them away.
I think police are sometimes immune to the things that make the rest of us cringe. They probably didn't mean any disrespect but I wouldn't my deceased relative laying there like that for all to see.
I would think they would have to develope some kind of immunity to stuff like this so as not to get distracted with their job.
I can certainly see that, considering they have to be so detailed in what they are doing, otherwise it is wasted effort if the prosecution can't convict them without enough evidence. Just wish they could have spared the mother some of the heartache.
Unfortunate event with even more unfortunate surroundings. Sometimes, no matter how terrible it is, the crime scene must stay in tack for much needed purpose. It is a shame that the family had to stand, waiting, viewing this gruesome scene that held their son in limbo for hours. I understand their pain, but as Sam said, it was prolonged by the ever present crowd. A crowd that was not only uncooperative but unruly as well. The good news that comes from this is that there are people in custody and I am sure will be found guilty. My main concern is that because there is more than one person involved, that one will flip on the other for a reduced sentence and not nearly do the time deserved.
And i'm sure the police's efforts to get the job done quickly were made a hell of a lot more difficult by the crowds of people trying to break through the barricade and wailing, screaming at and arguing with the police.
That said though, i really can't see what kind of 'evidence' could possibly have been mucked up by throwing a sheet over the bodies.
Thinking about it, i'm not even sure i can blame the family of the deceased for being so upset on the scene at watching their loved one's body lying out in the open for hours on end, so close but impossible to get to. Fail. Still, at least they've arrested some culprits, that could at least be some consolation rather than knowing that your son's / brother's / friend's killer is still out there somewhere.
