They do both suck but I love where the article says that the replica was crudely done because that is the better of the two, IMHO. I wouldn't hang either one in my barn let alone my house. I can hear it now..."why do you have ugly, vile porn hanging on your wall"? At any rate, you and I are in the wrong biz. We need to invest in canvas and oils and sells to these nuts who'd buy anything.
Matisse painting of the "Odalisque in Red Pants" kind of looks like cave man porn. Where did Venezuela get that kind of money for art work at anyway? One of Edvard Munch painting of "the Scream" was stolen from a Paris Art Museum. There were actually four screams painted by Munch. The one just sold for 140 million in New York was actually a pastal. And it was owned by a close family of the artist for a while. The guy that stole the painting from the Paris simply walked across the rope in the museum and carried"the Scream" right past the security guards, and then ran across a park in front of the museum and vanished forever. Nice art Museum security guard, kind of reminds me of those cause stalking security guards down at the University of Delaware. And that one University of Delaware security guard that was just caught for stalking that student at U.D. in May of 2012. Hell, the student had to call another police department in order to get the cause stalking security guard to stop stalking and harassing her...
Why didn't Venezuela just leave the fake hanging in the museum, and keep the theft a secret while they continue to look for the real Matisse Painting "Odalisque in Red Pants"? Lol. lol. lol. It's most likely in some communist's bathroom in North Korea. lol
It wouldn't do for me to be Curator of an art museum. My guess is that most people couldn't tell a real from a fake piece of art.
It seems they didn't care less either, probably got found out when someone went to professionally clean and examine the painting, and suddenly he's like WHAT THE FUCK IS THIS SHIT, FAKE, at which a point they're like WAIT, THAT ONE IS EXPENSIVE, TIME TO FREAK OUT. ...But with a painting so expensive, you'd think...unless it was an insurance scam that got cut short.
I know art is an individual appreciation.... but Chix...I'm with you, that is about a buttugly painting...
It is interesting there are numerous differences in the two painting...I'm with you, you would have thought someone would have noticed.
The people in charge of the painting should be moving on to greener pastures. Hard to believe that they could have missed that it had been switched. The copy is not very well done at all.
Stealing a bit of canvass and a little paint..couldnt give a shit, there is a lot worse things people are doing out there.
