David Goss Sued By the Deputy Who Shot Him

Breakfast reading from the Village Voice Empire: Goss was described by the judge who sentenced him as a pillar of the community. But the deputy claimed to have received permanent nerve damage during the fight that ended with Goss being gut-shot. Westword has the story.

One cannot personally sue cops who inflict harm and abuse and permanent damage on their bodies (there are countless examples - everything from excessive force to police beating and electrocuting the wrong man).... However, now a cop can sue a citizen when the cop was hired to perform a specific set of tasks and knew, full well, that he could potentially receive harm while in the line of duty?? There are times I wish I were a judge. This case I'd toss with prejudice.
