Christopher Sharp, a 37-year-old resident of Spring Hill, Florida, realized his job at a Pizza Hut may not be the most impressive vocation in the eyes of his live-in girlfriend. So instead of landing better employment, Sharp stole a Pasco County Sheriff’s Deputy uniform and for five months pretended to be employed as a cop to impress his friends, family and girlfriend. Miami New Times has the story.

Last Thursday, a triple homicide worthy of Michael Bay lit up the Las Vegas Strip when a gunman in a black Range Rover peppered bullets into a rapper driving a Maserati, sending the luxury car careening into a taxi, which exploded right in front of Bally’s Hotel. The rapper died, along with the cabbie and his passenger, as thousands of tourists gaped at the scene.

This morning, Las Vegas police put out an alert for a 22-year-old Miami woman they say was in the SUV during the shooting. Tineesha Lashun Howard — who has a history of prostitution — isn’t a suspect and is “possibly endangered,” police say. Miami New Times has the story.

Manatees are for looking, not touching. Even people who lack common sense should have learned that after Ana Gloria Garcia Gutierrez turned herself in for attempting to ride a manatee in the Tampa Bay area.

Not everyone got the message. Ryan William Waterman, a 21-year-old Fort Pierce man, has been arrested after posting online pictures of his two young children riding a manatee calf. Miami New Times has the story.

Ari Pregen picked the wrong strip club to throw his weight around. On January 26, the Miami-Dade assistant state attorney gained free admission for himself and two pals into downtown Miami’s Goldrush by flashing his work badge at the club’s executive manager, Jeff Levy. A few hours later, Pregen again whipped out his law enforcement credentials so he wouldn’t have to pay a 15 percent credit card surcharge on lap dances he purchased. Miami New Times has the story.

The Santiesteban drug clan — which made millions by running grow houses all over South Florida and smuggling pot up the coast to New York City — now appears to be falling apart. Earlier today, one of the gang’s leaders, Derrick Santiesteban, pleaded guilty to drug, money laundering, and murder charges. His wife, Yadira, also copped to money laundering. A third gang member, Raul Ramirez, admitted to tending to the grow houses. Miami New Times has the story

On November 21, 2011, John Kenneth Rosenbaum burst into a South Georgia hospital begging for treatment. He had puncture wounds on his arm and the words “BLACK MAMBA” scrawled in marker on his skin.

But the bullsh*t bite is now coming back to haunt Rosenbaum. The 24-year-old Jacksonville resident faces up to five years in prison after he was convicted Friday of lying to federal agents about being bitten by the snake, which is one of the deadliest in the world. Miami New Times has the story.

The Miami Police Department is facing a police brutality lawsuit after allegedly beating up a man at Ultra Music Festival in 2011 all because his girlfriend tried to bring a glow stick into the notoriously neon-tinged fest. That’s at least the story of plaintiff Jesse Campodonico, a 27-year-old fitness trainer from New York. Miami New Times has the story.
