Police believe her mom took part in the abduction

Shannon Lea Dedrick, the 7-month-old infant who went missing five days ago, has been found alive under the bed of her babysitter, Susan Elizabeth Baker. And it appears Shannon’s own mom, Chrystina Lynn Mercer, will be charged with taking part in the abduction. According to Sheriff Bobby Haddock in Copley, Florida, here’s how it all went down:

Shannon’s parents reported her missing Saturday morning, saying she had vanished from their rural trailer home sometime between 3 a.m. and 11 a.m. that morning. Washington County sheriff’s deputies conducted a massive search, with police and volunteers going arm-and-arm through the brush to find the girl…

Donna Goebel was convicted of having an affair with a 16-year-old student

Donna Goebel, a teacher’s aide from Westampton, New Jersey, has been sentenced to five years in the slam for carrying on an affair with a 16-year-old student in her class. The boy testified they had sex at his home on a number of occasions. Goebel denies the claim.

During the trial, the defense claimed Goebel was in an awful marriage, causing her to seek attention and behave out of character. Her daughter Jennifer even wrote the judge saying her
mother was in a “poisonous destructive relationship.” But the jury wasn’t buying.

Judge James Morley acknowledged the difficulty of sentencing the woman — five years is unusually severe in a female pedophile’s case. And New Jersey law allows adults to have sex with 16-year-olds if they’re not authority figures, like teachers…

Sword is charged with tracking down her son on the internet and having sex with him

Reader “Mad Mike” responds to Aimee Louise Sword: Accused of Tracking Down the Son She Gave Up and Raping Him. He says we shouldn’t be jumping to conclusions:

“The majority of you are idiots. I understand how she can instantly be
disliked. (I mean, she did give up her son at the age of 5.) The only
reason this story makes headlines is because of you people who jump to

“There are no facts in regards to her raping her son…just
one-sided biased reporting in favor of the juvenile. IF she tracked her
son down and IF she then raped him… Perhaps the boy made this up and
even at the young age of 15 he should understand how completely vile of
a lie this would be. It would be lying with the intent to destroy
someone else and I’m sure he knows what’s in store for his egg donor
should she be found guilty. IF this happens to be be a lie…put
yourself in her shoes.”

Christina McIntyre did nothing until the baby stopped breathing

On October 6, Christina McIntyre sat and watched as her 2-year-old son Micah piled blankets and a bean bag chair onto his 11-month-old baby brother, Elijah, then climbed on top and began jumping until the baby stopped breathing. The 23-year-old Titusville, Florida mom waited a minute to pull the infant off, then spanked him and sent him to his room.

First she sent a text message to her boyfriend. She eventually called 911, then weirdly told the dispatcher that paramedics could decide if Elijah lived or died. She said she tried CPR and pumped the baby’s heart, but Elijah wouldn’t be revived until paramedics arrived with oxygen. She told them the baby had sleep apnea. But that story didn’t hold up with doctors at the hospital when she gave conflicting stories of what went down…

Misty Croslin, a serious piece of work

UPDATE: See Ronald Cummings, Misty Croslin Arrested for Drug Trafficking.

The Haleigh Cummings case just gets weirder and weirder — at least for the players involved. Police in Palatka, Florida say Misty Croslin-Cummings, recently divorced from Haleigh’s father Ronald Cummings, was robbed Monday night in the parking lot of an apartment building.

According to the police report, “two or three black males
jumped on Cummings taking her purse and pulling her out of the
vehicle.” Croslin fought her way back into the car and the driver sped off. But a third woman who was with them chased after the men. Cops found a

“crushed pill bottle with unknown
pills inside” at the scene.

One of the women with Croslin told police that they’d come to the apartment building to buy drugs. No one was arrested, but this latest episode doesn’t bode well for the last person to see Haleigh before her disappearance. Croslin’s already failed a polygraph test, and two weeks ago she was stopped in a road rage incident. This week she was divorced from her husband of only seven months.

Mom left 4-year-old Anthony Hinojosa in the burning trailer home

At 3 a.m., according to police, Sharon Hinojosa purposely set fire to her mobile home in Huron Township, Michigan, just outside of Detroit. She grabbed her 1-year-old son, but left her other two children — ages 3 and 4 — behind.

Joe Dickes and another neighbor saw the fire and tried to rescue the kids. But they couldn’t get through the door or the windows; the fire was out of control. “We heard the screams inside,” he told the Associated Press. “There was nothing we could do.”

What shocked him more is that their mother didn’t seem worried that her two kids were burning to death. “Sharon
was running up and down the street. She didn’t care. She said, ‘I couldn’t wake them up.’ Come on, you can throw them out
the door…

As everyone knows, it’s way easier to steal a baby than go through the discomfort and weight gain of actually having one yourself

Though 25-year-old Trinity Vidal-Hernandez already had three kids, she badly wanted another. And the fastest way to get one, she figured, was to steal one.

Though she worked as a nursing assistant at a nursing home, Hernandez told relatives she worked at a hospital. So she routinely dressed in scrubs and trolled maternity wards around Albany, Oregon. Then she decided to launch a grand plot.

Hernandez showed up at Samaritan Albany General Hospital and
told staff her friend had just given birth to triplets along the side of a road. The woman and her newborns would be arriving soon by helicopter. Staffers checked with dispatchers and found no such emergency. But Hernandez insisted the woman’s arrival was imminent, contending she’d already received cell phone pictures of the babies…
