Eduardo Ravelo: A prolific hit man who murdered his way to the top
He's wanted for racketeering, drug peddling, extortion and murder. He's accused of being a boss of the Barrio Aztecas in El Paso, 3,500-man strong gang specializing in murder-for-hire for Mexico's drug cartels. And he's believed to be hiding just across the Texas border in Juarez.

But though he's listed among the FBI's 10 Most Wanted Fugitives, the agency can't seem to catch him. He's believed to have even had plastic surgery and altered his fingerprints to avoid arrest.

Agents say Eduardo Ravelo is lives quietly and modestly with his wife and children, which has made his capture especially hard. But if you believe prosecutors, he's also a one man crime wave...

Miguel Herrera beat and whipped his girlfriend, all for showing up late

Police say he punched the woman, stabbed her, and whipped her with an electrical cord. Then he poured acid on her face and tried to get her to drink it. Herrera also raped her before finally letting her go...

Fugitive Matthew Maynard didn't like the photo a newspaper used, so he sent it a new one
Consider British burglar Matthew Maynard as vain. Or a smart ass. Or just really, really dumb. Or all the three. When the fugitive saw his wanted photo in the South Wales Evening Post, it seems he didn't like the looks of himself. So he sent the paper a new picture -- featuring himself posing in front of a police van...

Noor Faleh Almaleki is hospitalized in life-threatening condition
UPDATE: See Daughter Dies: Faleh Almaleki Now Faces Murder in Honor Killing.

Someone better tell Faleh Hassan Almaleki he's not in Iraq anymore. In this country, we don't do honor killings. And we sure as hell don't try to kill our own daughters.

But that's exactly what Almaleki intended to do when ran over his daughter, 20-year-old Noor Faleh Almaleki, in a state government parking lot in suburban Phoenix. Relatives say dad fought with his daughter over becoming too westernized and not living up to traditional Iraqi standards -- which, we might add, are not very fun if you're a 20-year-old woman in America...

Kate Waring vanished in June after dining with two friends

UPDATE: Police have made another arrest in the murder of Kate. See update after the jump...

After going to the gym, a drug store, and dinner at a Japanese steakhouse with friends, Kate Waring disappeared in the night of June 12. The well-to-do woman from Charleston, South Carolina had drug problems in the past, but this didn't look like a relapse. Her mom said she'd vanished without her clothes or her daily medicine.

When her father Thomas Waring filed a missing persons report, he said something strange had happened between his daughter and two friends, Ethan Mack and Heather Kamp. She was scared of the pair, but dad didn't say why.

Now it turns out that Mack and Kamp had dinner with her that night at the steakhouse. Though they claim to have dropped her off later in the evening, the evidence is starting to say otherwise...

Hassan Abdulrahman admits to being the hit man in the 1980 murder of an Iranian diplomat
Hassan Abdulrahman admits that in 1980, he murdered Ali Akbar Tabatabai by shooting him three times in the stomach at his Maryland home. Tabatabai was the former press attache for the Shah of Iran at that country's Washington Embassy. Abdulrahman was the American-born assassin Iran's new government paid $5,000 to kill him.

Abdulrahman, who was born David Theodore Belfield before converting to Islam in 1969, first fled to Canada, then to Tehran. He's never denied that he was the hit man in the case. "I don't regret that, no," he told Times Online. But while he remains a fugitive from U.S. justice, it appears he's become a bigshot in Iranian TV...

Maxi-Sopo.jpg
Sopo couldn't help but tell friends how fun Cancun was
People like Maxi Sopo give criminals a bad name. He used to sell roses at Seattle nightclubs, but decided that the late-night retail floral business wouldn't make him rich, so he graduated to the more profitable field of bank fraud.

Along with partner Edward Asatoorians, he convinced others to lie about their incomes to get loans for fake auto purchases, then used the money for more pressing things, like partying in Vegas. Asatoorians was convicted last week, but Sopo wisely decided to flee to Cancun, since Cancun is generally considered way more fun than most Washington prisons...
