A Seattle Police officer, checking on a stolen car in south Seattle, shot and killed suspected Lakewood cop killer Maurice Clemmons, police announced this morning. The shooting ended a two-day manhunt here and in the Tacoma area after ex-con Clemmons fled the Sunday morning Pierce County crime scene where four Lakewood police officers were ambushed in a coffee shop.
The unidentified lone arresting officer, a seven-year veteran, was not hurt in the Rainier Valley incident, although Clemmons was armed with a gun he took from one of the dead officers Sunday, police said, but was unable to get it out in time.

Police are now looking for Maurice Clemmons, a person of interest in the case. He's a long-time felon who once had his sentence commuted by then-Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee. He was arrested a week earlier for second degree child rape.

"I dont understand why everyone has to jump to conclusions when the man hasnt even been tried. I remember David aka byrd from wrestling we didnt go to the same school but we hung out at wrestling tournaments all over the state. He was a good guy then and I still believe he is a good guy.
"A lot of people lose their paths but Byrd is not the type of person that would do this its sad to see a person that you know be charged with this type of crime. I pray for him and his family and that the truth does come out for those that died as well."
