He's not a very good robber, and he's just run into a very brave -- or very stupid -- clerk. But when all's said and done, the robber is forced to flee the store with nothing. Not even his gun.

The Geezer Bandit has taken down five banks since August, no doubt to fund his bingo habit
There seems to be a new trend afoot among robbers these days. Maybe it's the economy, but the most unlikely people are showing up in stores and banks with guns, moving in on what used to be the province of losers and dope addicts. Take the guy above, who looks so old he's practically skeletal...

Tammy Sue Rothganger was last seen at her high school.

Tammy Sue Rothganger, 15, got up and dressed for school as usual on May 16, 1984. The Eldon, Missouri teenager did not have far to go -- Eldon High School was across the street from her home.  Nonetheless, she was last seen at 7:45 that morning getting inside a blue Plymouth in front of the school building.

Frantic with worry when she didn't come home, Tammy's family notified police that afternoon. An inquiry determined that she never attended classes that day, and she has never been seen or heard from again...

Burrell Mohler Jr. is now accused of forcing his three daughters to help kill a man
Reader CMM responds to Burrell Mohler Sr. and His 4 Sons Accused of Serial Child Rape, Forcing Sex With Dog.

"The way the stories are building and becoming more outrageous (and beginning from 'recovered memories') reminds me of the McMartin Daycare cases from the late 1980s where kids started with accusations of molestation and ended up with stories of satanic cults, animal and dog sacrifice and other craziness...

Patriarch and pervert Burrell Mohler Sr. apparently introduced his four boys to pedophilia
UPDATE: Detectives find a load of child and incest porn at Burrell Mohler Sr.'s home. See update after the jump...

Beginning in 1988, police believe 77-year-old Burrell Edward Mohler Sr. started raping the young boys and girls in his extended family. Over time, it seems he also introduced his four sons to pedophilia, and they forced the kids to even have sex with dogs.

All all five men are now charged with raping at least five children under the age of 12. Police are searching property outside Bates City, Missouri, looking for notes the victims buried in glass jars over the years -- and also searching for bodies...

Cathouse star Brooke Phillips and another woman were shot before the home was set aflame
UPDATE: Suspect David Allen Tyner is a cage fighter and former high school All-American wrestler. See update after the jump...

David Allen Tyner, a suspect in the murder-arson case that left four people dead in Oklahoma City, has turned himself in after an arrest warrant was issued. Police believe he may be responsible for the murders of Milagrous Barrerra, Brooke Phillips -- who appeared in HBO's Cathouse series -- and two people still unidentified.

Tyner has yet to face official charges, but since Barrerra and Phillips were both pregnant, he's expected to be hit with six counts of homicide. Both women were shot before the house was set on fire. Because the bodies were so badly burned, police are having a hard time identifying the victims...

Ronald Ralph King may be the notorious New Mexico Serial Killer
On February 16, 2001, police in Anthony, New Mexico got a call. There was a body, the caller said, lying under a heap of trash just north of the Flying J truck stop along Interstate 10. Once at the scene, investigators identified the body as that of Heather Lynne Eiche -- a 25-year-old homeless girl who frequented the Flying J to use the phone. She'd been beaten to death. But police could never figure out who would have done such a thing or why.

Then, on January 9, 2009, they finally got their answer in the form of a postcard. It had come from an inmate in Virginia State Prison. His name was Ronald Ralph King. He was 38-years-old, serving time on two counts of rape. His expected release date was February 9, 2015. "I killed her," King wrote. "Now do your job and prove it"...

Zack-Heddinger.jpg
Zack Heddinger had a fight with Bears fans when someone offered him a drink to make peace. That's when he nearly died.
After the Steelers lost to the Bears at Soldier Field on September 20, Zack Heddinger and some friends headed to Kitty O'Shea's bar to drown their sorrows. Like Steelers fans everywhere, they couldn't help but talk some trash to the assembled Bears fans, which is never a good idea at away games.

Though Heddinger no longer remembers that day, he and his buddies apparently got into an altercation. A Chicago fan bought him a drink to make peace. Heddinger soon passed out and was rushed to the hospital...
